The De Vere Group Plc Renews Commitment To KB Logic
The De Vere Group Plc has once again signed up KB Logic as their
preferred business partner to provide
development resources to their on-going IT projects. Kerry Beswick, Managing
Director of KB Logic is delighted with the endorsement - "This renewal

A Good Company To Do Business With
KB Logic has established a very good working relationship with us over
the years. They understand how we operate at a corporate level, and at
an IT level. We have commissioned several applications over the past
year and we have been consistently impressed with the finished products in terms of

Cost Effective
We used to consider bespoke developments to be an area of particular
risk but we are now increasingly turning to bespoke development in key business
areas. Take the Restaurant Bookings Diary that KB Logic produced for The
Belfry as an example. We wanted a system that managed the hotel's
restaurants that was potentially available to all staff within the
hotel, but the content and presentation of the reservation information
along with certain key features was important to us so we decided that
the best option was to have the system specially written for us.
Traditionally, this option would always have been discarded in favour of
the less risky option of buying in whichever packaged system most closely
matched our needs. We commissioned KB Logic to produce the system and to
deliver an installation CD for the client and server components. We
installed the product ourselves on over 70 workstations at The Belfry
and since the go-live date in February we haven't once had to call KB
Logic with support issues; the system just works! But the good
news doesn't stop there for us. We intend to roll this solution out to
other hotels within the group. Compared to the cost of buying packaged
systems we only have to install this system at a small number of hotels
for us to have paid back the initial investment in developing the
system, each hotel we install after that is effectively free. It turns
out that not only do we get exactly what we want, we also get it cheaper!
One-stop-shop
We particularly like the fact that KB Logic offer us a 'one-stop-shop'
when it comes to solving our development based IT problems. Our
Information Services department focuses on strategy and management
issues related to business information, and we don't in principle get
involved in the nitty-gritty of development projects. Because of this we
tend to give high-level business requirements to KB Logic and we expect
them to fill in the blanks for us, in order to produce the finished
system. Typically, KB Logic will produce Requirements Definition
documents, and Design and Architecture documents that we will review and
amend with them until we are happy that we have defined the appropriate
solution. KB Logic then implements the design and delivers a solution to
an agreed fixed price. At all stages of the project we know exactly what
is happening so we can manage it effectively.
